Feathers and Fing’rs

In case you missed it, 1970s fashions such as flared jeans and wedge sandals are HOT, HOT, HOT this year. If you haven’t yet stocked up on your 70s apparel look, you can channel the trend with your hair! Many hip chicks are wearing feathers and weaving wispy extensions and going for plumage-adorned head gear in their hair!

Spurred on by celebrities like Miley Cyrus, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Hilary Duff and Kesha, and adorned by the ultimate style mavens, the feathers-in-hair trend – weaving wispy extensions into their hair and going for plumage-adorned head gear – was first spotted earlier this year and is now the hottest thing in salons.

In fact, fly fishermen are now dealing with supply issues and bumped-up prices for the feathers they need for their sport and can blame fashion and beauty hipsters: The recent craze in feather hair extensions has led to a feather shortage and more than doubled the cost of plumes!

The feathers are usually applied using small metal clasps and can be washed and styled like regular hair. They last four to 12 weeks, after which they break or fall off. Salons apply them at a cost of $30 to $75 depending on the size of the feather cluster.

Still, it’s not just feathered extensions that are adorned by top fashionistas and showing up at trendy hot spots these days. Accessories, headbands, cocktail hats and fascinators decorated with plumage are also popular.

Fans like it because it gives their tresses a little flair or excitement, and the colors can give hair beautiful tone… and paired with our Fing’rs Edge nails, it just screams “HIP CHICK!”

Are you in for the trend?
